He Can Be Entreated

I Samuel 30 shares the account of when the Amalekites spoiled the city where all that were with David dwelt.  When David and his men arrived there after leaving the Philistines they found their women and children had been carried away.  After God’s direction David pursued after the Amalekites and recovered all that they had taken and left none alive except for four hundred that had escaped on camels.

II Kings 4 shares with us about a women, a Shunammite, who had been careful to take care of the prophet Elisha each time he passed by her way.  The Spirit of God rewarded her with a son.  When that child had grown he collapsed while working in the fields with his father.  He soon after died on his mother’s lap.  The Shunammite laid the child on the bed of the prophet and ensued after Elisha.  She would not be turned aside until Elisha came back with her.  Elisha prayed for her child and that child was raised from the dead.

And then we have the Syrophenician women in Matthew 15: 22And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.  23But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.  24But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.  25Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.  26But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs.  27And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.  28Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

In 1983-84 I taught Kindergarten in a private Christian school belonging to a Hispanic Pentecostal church.  A couple years later after I came to Water of Life, I saw on television that one of my students and his sister had been kidnapped from their home.  I loved the people from that church and called the school to see if they had any more information.  I spoke to the secretary who I had worked with.  She said “Kathie, our church came together and prayed all night. The authorities found the children the next morning unharmed!”

Women, we have a God who can be entreated.  And He can be entreated by women.

Let us continue with Luke 15:  4What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?  5And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing.  6And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost.  7 I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.

If you notice in the last passage the sheep looked for, found and rejoiced over was one that had to repent.

Ladies, one of ours has been taken.  Lisa is not just Doyle’s wife, she is one of us.  She has been part of this ministry longer than most.  When we worship, we need to worship for God to bring Lisa home.  When we dance, we need to dance for God to bring Lisa home.  When we pray, we need to pray for God to bring Lisa home.  When we fast, we need to fast to bring Lisa home.  Our Heavenly Father can be entreated.

God Bless
