A Women’s Example Doyle shares a story of when he first started walking with God, he asked Him something to this effect; “Who do I get with and who do I follow?” When the Father started leading me to obey the verse, Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord (Colossians 3:18), I asked the Father, “Where is my example?” He didn’t hesitate in giving me an answer and lead me to Isaiah 52:13 Behold my servant…. This “servant” Isaiah is speaking of is our Lord Jesus. If you read in John 1 and Hebrews 1 this is the same man who created everything we see and know, and who without him we would not exist. This is the man who said to us while he was on the earth “I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.” (John 6:38) This is the man that also said “For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.” (John 12: 49) Notice, Jesus didn’t come on his own, He was sent. And He didn’t speak his own words, only what He was told. Philippians 2 gives us further instruction, 5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: (This includes us women…) 6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. 9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: This Jesus who we follow walked in subjection to His Father. If you will look at Luke 22 with me, I’d like to show you where I believe there is no greater example of his humility than what He prayed at the Mount of Olives. And he was withdrawn from them about a stone’s cast and kneeled down, and prayed, saying, Father if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. (Luke 22: 41, 42) These verses have ministered to me greatly, that the Savoir of our world for that moment, didn’t want to go to the cross, but yet he humbled himself and said thine will be done. There have been several times in my life where I have clung to these verses. One I have already shared with you, when I was pregnant with my fourth child Stephen, and woke up to my water breaking. I knew I was in trouble. And as Jack went to call for assistance, I sat on the edge of the bed and said this out loud. “Father, I know I am in trouble, and if you don’t do something, I am on my way to the hospital without a doctor. I don’t want to go, but if it is your will, then I will humble myself and go.” And as I have shared, God intervened and the power of God performed several miracles and Stephen was born at home without issue. Ladies, we have no better example. And that example is in us, if we are born again. He knows how to walk in humility, all we have to do is yield to him.
